"Our task in this project was to recreate a scene from the book Brave New World in a graphic novel form. Most students were paired into teams of authors and artists, though several worked alone and handled both aspects of the task. The authors wrote a paper analyzing one of the main characters in the novel and used noun-phrase apposites and concessive theses to make their arguments. Artists focused on key choices of moment, frame, image, word, and flow in creating a graphic novel about the chosen scene. Our exhibition featured both an art show of our graphic novels, and a seminar discussion about Brave New World."

Artist Self-Assessment for Brave New World
The most challenging part of doing these graphic novels were when I had to plan out what was going in the panels and to have the five requirements in the panels. The hardest part of doing this graphic novel was trying to plan out the panels, images, that were going inside of the panels. The last two panels were the hardest because the 5th panel is about John being filmed so that they could make a movie, and releasing the movie. The 6th is about john waking up the next day realizing what he had done then a tragic incident happens. Planning out panels was a challenging part of doing these graphic novels.
In panel 7 I am proud of because it is showing the facial expression. I think I did Panel 7 very well because of the facial expression with mouth and eyebrows, how it shows John looking sick and the others looking astonished. Also I used body language. Body language, I used the characters body language to so excitement and other feelings, is used the body language in most panels. Panel 7 is a good way of expressing the characters feeling/emotions with their eyebrows and mouth.
I’m mostly proud of the use of flow that I had, except for the days I missed for being sick, I like the use of flow because of how I went deeper into the scene and not skipping scene to scene. I have learned that graphic novels are harder to do then they look. Another part that was a challenge for me was when I had come back and I was lost, like i didn’t know what we had went over, but luckily I had a friend to help me catch up. It was harder for me because I missed most of the days we learned about how to do this graphic novel for the artist.
